Auron the Grey by Susiron Auron the Grey by Susiron
Auron from one of my favorite book series, The Age of Fire-- [link]
If you like dragons at all, please read this series. Not only is it from the POV of dragons-- win right off the bat-- it's also a gorgeously written, but sadly lesser known series.

EDIT: The texture that I used is orange/red and was placed on overlay atop the image, making him appear browner. I am aware that he appears brown in this image, and it is a colour choice for the lighting (blue and purple were also used for the shadows to spice up the colours). Auron is still grey in the book, however, leading to the image title.

Auron, The Age of Fire belong to E.E. Knight.
Art by me.
Drawn on SAI.

Ok so....

Not only did you create beautiful art...

But you made beautiful art based on my favorite series, and on my favorite dragon in said series....

You have made me among the happiest mortals on Mundus.

Bless your souls for such grandeur. Bless it!!!

Love the soft personality in his face. One question though: do you know he has red eyes?

I don't really recall it ever being mentioned that he has red eyes? I haven't read the books in quite some time, however, so this was mainly done based on memory and referencing the novel's cover

It actually wasn't mentioned until very late into the first book. Easy to read over I suppose.

Fun fact: E.E. Knight isn't a big fan of the covers for the Age of Fire. Says they're not very accurate.

Hrmmm interesting I'll have to look for that tidbit the next time I reread the novel

That wouldn't surprise me, ahahahah. I imagine that, unless he draws for himself, it's quite difficult to get an artist to draw the dragons like his visions them unless he sits down with them and describes everything bit by bit.
I like the cover art quite a bit, but I also have a lot of pet peeves with them as well. In particular, I hate how the wings and hind legs are done, and the tails seem a bit too long. So if I dislike a handful of things on the cover dragon art, I can imagine that he likely has many qualms with them. After all, these are his brain children.
