Really? The only things I see wrong are the wings on Zapdos which I have already stated and how the wings on Moltres should be more made of fire.
Though I did also just notice the black tipping on the wings of Zapdos, they are really hard to see with the dark background. I know the wings on Zapdos look nothing like that, but my main thing was that when I was looking originally, the black was totally missing, but now I see you did add some black on the tips.
For that look though, I think I might have gone with having the wings of Zapdos be black on the back, with a very thick outline of yellow, and on the front, if you had really shown that at all, just have the coloring be yellow. That is, if I could do anything that awesome I mean, You still did some really really nice work.
No, there really are MANY things wrong with this, and it's not simply colouration. You are completely right about the black being not distinct enough, though, yes. I would still choose to stick with the tips only if I redrew this. Also, even if I were to redraw this, I would probably add no more fire to Moltres' wings, as that is a design choice. I wished for it to look more as though its feathers are spouting flame, than the wings are ACTUALLY flame.
The anatomy of all of their wings, however, is definitely off. Zapdos' feathers are too stubby, and the wings themselves are far too stiff. For Articuno, the bend in his wing is too drastic, and the feathers are not correctly drawn on the outer wing-- the feathers are actually arranged backwards, and there is no clear distinction between primaries and secondaries. Moltres has about the same issues as Articuno as far as the feathers go, but is the opposite with bending-- its wings should bend more, and the wing farthest away should be rounded out, as the closest one assumes that position.
lol wow, I would have never have noticed that much detail about what is wrong with the picture. I agree with most of what you say, after looking closely, the rest of it is just stuff I don't fully understand, like the feathers being arranged backwards but w/e. Even though I agree with it, overall I feel they are very minor things, and as I said, I would not have ever noticed it, the overall picture is still pretty epic. I am just not as used to super detailed sorta realistic birds and all of their specifics, lol.
Ahaha, wings are a tough thing to get a good grasp on. There are many rules to them that people neglect-- I still do not know all of the rules to them. xD I absolutely love drawing wings, though, so I've been steadily trying to teach myself their anatomy to the best of my ability.
